It appears that, if you religiously follow the pronouncements of the Club for Growth, that a majority wants to swap DeSantis for Trump. Even Governor Ron believes it, according to internet chatter that he is forming a PAC, or even a Super PAC,
For the politically uninitiated, PAC stands for Political Action Committee, or give me some money please, then a little more please, and so on and so on.
I do believe that DeSantis is responsible for turning a purple state into a solidly, (for now,) Red State. That designation could be fleeting.
If you are a Liberal moving to Florida, the eastern part of the state, where some of my friends live, is intensely Liberal. Conservatives who insist voicing their opinion can, and will be shouted down quickly and without mercy.
The western part of the state, encompassing the Tampa Bay area, and associated beach towns like Sarasota and Clearwater are Conservative. Coincidentally, that section attracts many Americans from the midwest. New York ideals are somewhat of a mystery to these folk. New York is a behavior or concept understood through the haze of distance. So, they are unable to mimic it.
Never underestimate the power of the Democratic machine, forged by Saul Alinsky decades ago. Never heard of him? In the tempestuous 1960s, he developed the Rules for Radicals.
"Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have."
"Never go outside the expertise of your people."
"Whenever possible go outside the expertise of the enemy."
"Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."
"Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage."
"A good tactic is one your people enjoy."
"A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag."
"Keep the pressure on."
"The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself. "
"The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition."
"If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside; this is based on the principle that every positive has its negative."
"The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."
"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. "
He can be credited for the soul reason that the American Left, and its counterpart, the Democratic Party, always marches in lock-step. When an excited college student embraced Alinsky’s ideas because she thought they would help people, he allegedly retorted that the real aim was power.
He was the mentor of Hillary Clinton and a forerunner to another “Community Organizer,” Barack Obama.
If Alinsky had lived, perhaps he would, like Obama, be rich enough to buy a mansion in Martha’s Vineyard. Loads of people are “helped” there, but except for the grand poobah Obama, no brown or black people are welcome.
Glenn Beck has accused Trump of using Saul Alinsky tactics, but in the book The Return, by Dick Morris, that is exactly what conservatives should be doing to win elections. Trump is all about winning. I have heard him speak several times, and the chief impression that I get is that he actually likes We the Peasants.
He is a businessman. President Calvin Coolidge once said that “Business is the business of America. I heartedly agree, especially during the supply chain crisis brought about by Biden the Demented.
Governor Ron DeSantis is also business friendly and has made Florida a Red State. Could he do that for the entire nation? That is doubtful. In this chaotic time of BidenFlation and sticker shock of the supermarket, we will need the deal making expertise of Trump.
Yes, DeSantis will be President of these Disunited States: If he can wait for his turn. Otherwise there are loads of Trump fans that will be angry enough to merely Stay Home in 2024.
Then, most likely Alinsky’s mentee Hillary Clinton ,will be President Clinton. That will be the end of Democracy. (See, I can say that too!)
Consider DeSantis’ record in Congress. This is public record so it is easy to find. He served as a Florida Congressman from 2013-2018. He was involved, according to The Library of Congress, with only nine bills.
The majority of these bills concerned the naming of Post offices. If you are considered worthy to have a post office named after you, Congress has to decide.
This is my question: Who cares? When I go to the Post Office, I do so with trepidation. Although this was a respectable middle-class occupation decades ago, many of the carriers serving my large condo in Puerto Rico cannot read in either Spanish or English. Do you have similar results in your neighborhood?
In any case, not one post office will be named for me. I just call it the Post Office, and so do you.
DeSantis did sponsor Faithful Execution of the Law Act in 2014. It was passed and became law. This was a great bill, designed to protect servicemen and women against toxic substances they may have been exposed to while on duty.
That bill was a good fit for DeSantis, who is a decorated Naval officer. He also wrote a bill I highly approve of: The Social Media Use in Clearance Investigations act in 2017. This was a huge bill, and DeSantis wanted the funds to study the effects of social media and how it reflects on security clearances and employment. This passed the House, but not the Senate so it did not become law.
It should have. My sister warned me not to put anything on social media except for pictures of flowers or puppies. Of course, as a crusty old broad I just let it rip.
Trump has one important ingredient that DeSantis lacks: Unpredictability.
That will serve us as we are on the cusp of a Biden-made nuclear showdown with Putin. Trump knows the panoply of bad guys, and more importantly, they know him and are afraid of him. Very afraid.
Governor Ron, though not the sponsor, joined a group of Republicans in a 2016 law, The Separation of Powers Act. This was sponsored by Republican Congressman John Ratcliffe. As our Constitution, forged by our founders, had already put this in place, I considered this redundant. Still, it is good to remember that we do have a system of checks and balances. Signing on was a great move for a politician. DeSantis is a politician, albeit a good one.
Trump is not a good politician; in fact and deed, he is a piss-poor one. Like President Calvin Coolidge, he knows that the business of America is business. Without business my dear readers, we would not have those J.O.B.S.
What would have been ultra-cool is a bill that hires teachers to do nothing but teach the tenants of our wonderful Constitution. Perhaps, like the Marines, we should be looking for a few good History teachers, who also know civics. It is astounding to me that so few Americans understand our ingenious system of checks and balances.
I was educated in Public school in Pittsburgh, Pa. Now I believe that my humble education was far better than the anti-American hate syllabus that is being served up by that devil, The Teacher’s Union. I am against most unions, including those for Nursing. If you want to be a teacher, and do not know that you will be putting up with spoiled brat kids and their terrible parents, then perhaps you are not smart enough to teach our children.
Likewise for Nursing. If I enter that profession without the knowledge that I may have to clean a poopy diaper, then you do not want my idiocy at your bedside.
Yes, times have changed, and not for the better.
In first grade at Chatham Elementary School in Pittsburgh Pa, I was taught how to “Duck and Cover,” This was the height of the Cold War, and hiding under your desk was as important as the 3R’s. This was supposed to protect the children during a nuclear attack. In second grade, we began to merely pull the blinds down and line up in the hall. That way, no one was was hit by flying glass. Even at the ripe age of 7, I knew that this was a bogus maneuver. Around this time, I asked my Dad why we could not have a bomb shelter.
He replied, “If that happens, (nuclear war,) I want you to bend over and kiss your ass goodbye.”
Now I am 71-years-old and way to large to fit under my desk, so I really do need that Bad Boy Trump. As a yoga practitioner, I suppose I could bend over and give my back side a kiss, but I confess that my first move would be to my bar.
As Glenn Beck recently stated, “ Family, meet me at the bar.” Luckily, I have only a few steps to my home bar. I keep it well-stocked. My friends call it Donna’s Bar.
Behold this baby. Donna’s Vodka Martini. Only supplied by Donna’s Bar. Beds and couches available when needed. Or, upon request.
Some of the Usual Suspects. That day we decided on wine and bubbly. A few of them had suffered the strength of the Donna Martini, so we played it safe with wine and Bubbly.
If you want to live dangerously, drop me a line.
Thank you my love!
Thanks Donna,
Great post!
